Our Team

The Bible teaches us that everyone who believes in Jesus is a ‘minister’ or ‘priest’. For example, in the letter of 1 Peter, we read:

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.1 Peter 2:9 (RSV)

The Bible also teaches that we are all to serve one another with the various gifts and abilities God has given us, in order to build up the body of Christ. So in Ephesians we read:

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part/person does its work.Ephesians 4:15-16

However, we do have a team of people who are responsible for various parts of the body of Christ at Doncaster and Blackburn.

Andrew

Andrew Price

Senior Pastor As Senior Pastor, Andrew oversees the ministry across both Doncaster and Blackburn churches. He could not do this without the great gospel work of the staff, the many parishioners who work together to serve Christ, and his very supportive wife Michelle. Andrew is committed to teaching God's word and others to read it, since God's word points us to God's Son and the primary means by which God's Spirit gathers and grows people in Christ. Andrew is married to Michelle, and they have three teenage kids and one pet rabbit.
David and Esther

David and Esther

Senior Mandarin Pastors David and Esther came to Australia from mainland China. Soon after arriving they both became Christians. Three years later they both felt called by God to fulltime ministry and entered the Bible College of Victoria (now Melbourne School of Theology). After graduating, God guided them toward ministry at Holy Trinity, where they together began the Chinese ministry. By God's grace, the Chinese ministry has grown into three congregations with about 300 meeting each week and they primarily pastor the 1:30pm congregation at Doncaster. David and Esther have a married son and two granddaughters. David enjoys fishing and singing, and Esther likes reading and walking.

Mark

Mark Chew

Senior Associate Pastor While Mark is the Senior Associate across Holy Trinity and St John's, he particularly pastors the 5pm congregation at Doncaster, the 8.30am Traditional and 10.30am Family congregations at Blackburn and the outreach and evangelism initiatives across the churches. He sees that his role as a pastor is to teach God’s Word faithfully and to disciple and equip the saints of the church to undertake Gospel ministry wherever God has placed them. Apart from being a disciple of Jesus, Mark’s greatest joy is to be a husband and home cook to Elissa and father and uber-driver to his teenage daughters Emma and Lauren. He takes a keen interest in global politics, the dynamics of cultural diversity in society and corporate governance in the not-for-profit sector.
Dafang

David

10:30am Doncaster Mandarin Pastor David came to Australia from Shanghai in China. He and Deborah planted the 10:30am Mandarin congregation in 2011. David was ordained as priest in November 2014 and is the lead pastor of this congregation. David strongly feels called by God to work amongst the Chinese community in Australia and is ably assisted in ministry by his wife, Jenny. Their son (James) and daughter in law (June) are involved with the Mandarin youth ministry.

Deborah

Deborah

10:30am Doncaster Mandarin Pastor Deborah was first heard the Christian faith when she was in her final year of university in China. By God's mercy, she became 5 years later. Since coming to Australia in 1989, she has served in a local church as a co-worker before joining HTD with her family in 1999. Deborah graduated from MST in 2015 and is serves the 10:30am Mandarin congregation. She is married to John and they have two young adult children.

Vijay Henderson

Vijay Henderson

10:30am Doncaster Pastor Vijay is a born and bred Melbournian who was ordained in 2018. Prior to full time ministry, Vijay spent many years working as an accountant and living overseas in the UK. Today he looks after the 10.30am Family and co-ordinates the Bible groups at HTD. Vijay believes that God’s word is His means to mature the Church, and as such, he's committed to helping people read the Bible for themselves. He believes the local church is where God’s people are empowered and encouraged to know Jesus and also equipped to make him known. Vijay is the husband of one wife, Rachel, and they have three children, who are growing up too fast. He really enjoys fishing with his son Arjay, going to the movies and holidays in Point Lonsdale.
Alan

Alan

10:30am Blackburn Mandarin Pastor Alan grew up and went to tertiary education in China. He had travelled extensively in China with his work. Since coming to Australia he became a Christian, was baptised, and grew in the faith at HTD. Alan later studied at MST and was ordained in 2015. He now leads the Mandarin ministry at Blackburn. In his spare time Alan enjoys relaxing at the beach and bushwalking. He is married to Renee and they have two daughters.

Geoff

Geoff Hall

Youth Pastor Geoff is married to Tiff. Before HTD Geoff was a carpenter, after which both he and Tiff did a ministry training apprenticeship. They then studied together at Bible college. Geoff loves to teach the bible to young people and to equip them to use it themselves. He enjoys encouraging them to grow up in maturity in Christ and training others to do the same. To relax Geoff likes to go for bike rides with Tiff; sometimes slow and easy and sometimes fast and difficult. He enjoys lying in the sun, listening to music, making coffee and watching YouTube.

Michelle Caruana

Michelle Caruana

Michelle has been a member of Holy Trinity Doncaster for more than 20 years and joined the staff team in 2015. She has worked as a teacher in primary and secondary schools and with children with special needs. Michelle is passionate about sharing the gospel and teaching children about Jesus. Michelle is currently studying at Ridley College to gain a deeper understanding of God’s word and to deepen her own ability to teach His word to children and disciple young people. Michelle has 3 young adult children and loves spending time with them. She enjoys cooking, reading and is an aspirational gardener.
Tim Walker

Tim Walker

Executive Pastor Tim is married to Anita and they have three children. After university Tim undertook a two year ministry apprenticeship before working as an Engineer for seven years; developing intellectual property into commercial products. In 2011 he made the change from engineering to theology and completed an MDiv at Ridley in 2013. One of four children Tim grew up in and around Melbourne, experiencing its diversity, but also seeing the common need of all people to know God through Jesus. When he is not spending time with his family Tim loves ‘improving’ items in his shed, riding bikes, exploring, and almost anything motorised.
